The Awakening (2011)

In 7 words or less: It's all coming back to Rebecca Hall.

What's it all About? A post WWII paranormal de-bunker, Rebecca Hall is called to a school for boys in the country to investigate some mysterious and ghostly goings on. If these spooky  events are going to be revealed to be some young'en's idea of a laugh, Rebecca is going to have to try a bit harder.

Hogwart's Express
Best bits? Florence's (Hall) contraptions and craft is all very nice to watch. The ghostly sightings of the child are pretty disturbing, with his smudgy face. There's scares of the jumpy and psychological variety and a scary bath scene.
Looking.
Did it make you think thoughts? Yes. Plenty. It's refreshing to see a well made ghost story. It's what I hoped The Woman in Black would be like. Instead of the MTV style poo-box it turned out to be. Rebecca hall is awesome here and some great acting from Imelda Staunton and the rest of the cast too. It has a very relaxing vibe. A bit like watching an episode of midsomer murders. My main beef with this is the twisty ending, which isn't too bad. But I've never been a fan of amnesia / repression story lines. Which are best left to the masters over on Neighbours.
Boating Lake Reflection Time.
Would you watch it again? Yes. I've watched it twice. I'd probably include this on my yearly rotation.

Rating (out of 100%): 80% Best horror of the season so far.
